The Dalton Highway, originally built as a construction haul road to facilitate the building of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, connects the end of the pavement of the Elliott Highway with the industrial community of Deadhorse on the Arctic Coast, through 415 miles of Alaskan wilderness.
