After crossing the road just ahead of my vehicle, these caribou stop to enjoy a snack of fresh lichen. (Yuck!)
It was so foggy, even the ptarmigan were grounded.
On the tundra south of Deadhorse, these three bulls are a part of a small group of caribou grazing near the highway.
July 2, 2010: A bull moose, with antlers in the velvet, browses on the bottom of shallow Grayling Lake near Mile 150.
Springtime, and this ptarmigan is still in its winter plumage. Shot near Galbraith Lake north of the Arctic Circle.
