1988 Port San Juan Hatchery Special Opener

The smaller boats are known as "seine skiffs". While the bigger seiner lets out the net, the seine skiff pulls the other end of the net in a large circle, hoping to surround the fish and capture them. When fishing as they usually do, the skiff will sometimes even run its bow up onto the beach to make sure the fish don't get back out the way they came in.
