2010 CB300: There is a list of equipment that each sled must carry at minimum. It includes feed for the dogs, sufficient booties for every dog including several replacements in case some get worn out or lost, sleeping bag for the musher, cooking gear and fire starters. In other words, all that is necessary for survival for several days in the backcountry, far from help, as well as everything to take good care of the dogs. Not sure if a firearm for dispatching attacking moose is required, but most mushers have those as well. They all have headlamps and plenty of extra batteries, as most will be running at night with only brief rest stops along the way. In the background you can see a musher stretched out on his sled, catching a few zzzz's before the start of the race.
